Something that's noticeable here is that in the still artwork I would like to include the arrows that show the direction of the joints (for later 3D). This would make the idea of concept art part of the final show.

Next Character for 3D
Character Designs for Ident and Final show...
Odd Surgeon recolour

With the painted artwork for the surgeon himself (main character of this animation) I have limited the colour depth to black and white, seems to work nicely, getting a rough texture to the look of the character.
I would like this animation (which was supposed to be creepy in nature) to take on a harsher aesthetic for my final showreel.

Looking back at older Projects..
Heres just a revamp of artwork from my MTV project, rather than the ink and watercolour biohazard sign...which admittedly did not suit the animation, I have customized this in Illustrator. I am working on re doing some of the artwork- in this case for the MTV brief, choosing to develop the backgrounds with some 3d constructs.
I will also shorten the animation and most likely amend the reveal of the MTV logo.

Portfolio Dalek 3D piece
A more Successful Shade...
A test with a shader and texture
Shaders work continues...

Here I have tried different colours in the shaders that perhaps give a more realistic look to the Dalek, The top, left image is experimenting with the 'bump' settings and i just and early attempt at creating come texture, I don't want suc an obvious effect but I know for the effect of realism I need something added to the shiny texture...

Ident research

Now just a few examples of Idents that are very much in the public domain, I have looked into my own interests here but I have tried to show different methods...
The things about these Idents that interest me, firstly, the two comic company Idents - Marvel and DC both use still artwork within the motion of the Ident. I would like to accomplish this in my own Ident but with possible slow motion clips of animations harkening back to my first year animations.
In the case of the more simple animations I like the constant play of light showing from between shapes giving a more grandiose appearance.

Dalek Test 1
3D who?
After spending some time 3D modeling in year one of the course, I have been asked to join the effort in a friend getting a fan made Dr. Who series up on Youtube. He has had a lot of success and Youtube have contacted him with regards to making more. Therefore when he has asked me to create 3D special effects I admit I accepted before knowing what I could do. Here are a few examples Dalek Test one being a less detailed full 3D model the second test being far more detailed.

Just something nice and quick -

This is just a favour for a colleague at work, designing a logo or image to appear on an information letter regarding her wedding, I will digitally trace the image in illustrator before colouring in photoshop. I would then submit the images on a colour xerox ranging from 3 different sizes - to be confirmed.
The design is to previously set specifications to fit the rest of the wedding theme:
- Including butterflies if possible.
- Colours will be pastel blues and turquoise.
- And include the Las Vegas Sign
Just after The Presentation on an artist here's who I've chosen
The artist I have chosen is Daniel Mather who is one of the many artists listed under the July Group, an online resource of artists which I have found to be a great resource for researching artists.
Daniel Mather is and american freelance illustrator working in traditional and digital media, educated at Columbus college of Art and Design. Mather started out working for American Greetings a s a staff artist on greetings cards etc but quickly rose to be art director there.
He has moved on from being a New York based Creative director to having his own Design and Illustration company- his work has appeared such places as includeNew York Home magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Doubleday, Pfizer, Fitness Magazine, Trigger Street Productions, and PBS.
Just the progress this week
Well so far with the Live Brief project where am I at?
- One of my tasks was to draft 10 layouts roughly which have been completed.
- Finish character designs for who should appear on the front cover, again completed.
- Start on actual artwork - this I am Currently in process of doing, testing the style I wish to use.
- Finish all artwork and compile the book cover itself.
- Possibly one A3 version and one real size cover - both on mount board
