Just something nice and quick -

This is just a favour for a colleague at work, designing a logo or image to appear on an information letter regarding her wedding, I will digitally trace the image in illustrator before colouring in photoshop. I would then submit the images on a colour xerox ranging from 3 different sizes - to be confirmed.
The design is to previously set specifications to fit the rest of the wedding theme:
  • Including butterflies if possible.
  • Colours will be pastel blues and turquoise.
  • And include the Las Vegas Sign

Just after The Presentation on an artist here's who I've chosen

The artist I have chosen is Daniel Mather who is one of the many artists listed under the July Group, an online resource of artists which I have found to be a great resource for researching artists.
Daniel Mather is and american freelance illustrator working in traditional and digital media, educated at Columbus college of Art and Design. Mather started out working for American Greetings a s a staff artist on greetings cards etc but quickly rose to be art director there.
He has moved on from being a New York based Creative director to having his own Design and Illustration company- his work has appeared such places as includeNew York Home magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Doubleday, Pfizer, Fitness Magazine, Trigger Street Productions, and PBS.

Just the progress this week

Well so far with the Live Brief project where am I at?
  • One of my tasks was to draft 10 layouts roughly which have been completed.
  • Finish character designs for who should appear on the front cover, again completed.
  • Start on actual artwork - this I am Currently in process of doing, testing the style I wish to use.
Tasks for the coming week:
  • Finish all artwork and compile the book cover itself.
  • Possibly one A3 version and one real size cover - both on mount board

This is actually a portrait of my girlfriends' family (who won't mind appearing here) the likenesses were all good, but it was a good chance to develop myself, never having tried such a big undertaking in hand drawn portraits

Some more examples from Mini portfolio

Jessica Rabbit was a poster for my girlfriend (favourite character and all that jazz...) I enjoyed producing it though as its a more cartoon style and let me relax a little while experimenting with the digital colouring. All in all I like her.

As promised Just a few examples from my mini portfolio

The point to this was to play around with digital colouring again and really coming out with my own version of a pretty nice poster for the 'True Blood' Series, all line work has been traced on illustrator and then brought to photoshop...

Just a catchup before 19th Feb

Well recently I have been uploading a mini portfolio to ECA which will be my uni' of choice, I have also applied for Bristol, Sunderland and Derby (also top up year for NCL College) Each will be an illustration course. I'l post some of my mini portfolio pieces up, the point to these were to mainly show work in progress and my development and learning in the field of illustration...Fingers still crossed
